Here is a recipe for a self-hardening dough:
Ingredients :
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (Maïzena)
- 3/4 cup of water
Instructions :
In a saucepan, mix the baking soda and cornstarch.
Slowly add the water while stirring to avoid lumps.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue stirring until the mixture thickens and takes on the consistency of playdough.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the dough cool until it is cool enough to handle by hand.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and combined.
Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to a thickness of approximately 0.5 cm.
Use the snowflake cookie cutter to cut shapes out of the dough.
Poke a small hole near the edge of the snowflake with a straw or toothpick, so you can thread a ribbon through to hang the decoration once it's dry.
Allow the decorations to air dry for at least 24 hours, or until they are completely hard.
Once they are dry, you can paint and decorate them according to your preferences.
