Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until well incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until the dough is smooth.
- Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in cling film. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one half of the dough to a thickness of about 0.6 cm. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough.
- Arrange the cut-out shapes on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 cm apart.
- Repeat with the other half of the dough.
- Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
