Vegan Apple Donuts – the perfect treat for carnival season

February stands for Carnival, joy, and sweet treats! If you want to enjoy a delicious and 100% vegan dessert, try these fluffy, vegan apple donuts. They are easy to make, smell wonderful, and get an irresistible festive touch from the cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients for about 15 donuts:

  • 200 g flour
  • 80 g brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 160 ml plant-based milk (e.g., almond or oat milk)
  • 90 g apple sauce
  • 40 g melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • Cinnamon sugar for coating

Instructions for vegan apple donuts:

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  2. Add the plant-based milk, melted coconut oil, apple sauce, and lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar).
  3. Quickly mix everything into a smooth batter.
  4. Fill the donut mould with the batter using a spoon or piping bag.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes, until the donuts are golden brown.
  6. Coat the warm donuts in cinnamon sugar and enjoy!
