Snowflakes with Jam – To keep warm in winter
I've already posted a lot of recipes for cookies with jam. However, I really like the shapes of snowflakes, so I came up with the idea of baking snowflake cookies with jam! What do you think about it?
Ingredients for Snowflakes with Jam:
250 g Butter
125 g Powdered Sugar
1 Lemon
1 Package of Vanilla Sugar
500 g Flour
50 g ground Walnuts
Jar of Fruit Jam (Strawberry or Raspberry Jam)
Required baking tools: Cookie Cutter – Snowflake
Method:
Cream butter with sugar, add zest and juice of one lemon. Mix walnuts with vanilla sugar, then add to the previous mixture. Gradually add sifted flour until a homogeneous dough is obtained.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 5 mm. Cut out the cookies with a snowflake-shaped cookie cutter. On half of your cookies cut out the middle with a circle-shaped mini cookie cutter.
Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at 180 °C for about 5-10 minutes (depending on dough thickness).
Cookie decorating:
Here is how I proceed with decorating to get these pretty cookies.
At first, I cover half of each cut out cookie with baking paper and I sprinkle uncovered half with powdered sugar. After that I spread a thin layer of jam on the whole bottom surface of the cookies. Finally, I place the prepared cut out cookies (sprinkled with sugar) on top and I gently sandwich them together.
