In Alsace, many recipes are baked traditionally, especially during Christmas time and St Nicholas Day. Here is another traditional Alsatian recipe for every occasion! These chocolate spritz cookies are excellent when served with coffee, tea or mulled wine.
Ingredients for Chocolate Spritz Cookies:
170 g softened Butter
140 g Caster Sugar
1 Egg Yolk
1 tbsp. Cacao Powder
250 g Flour
2-3 tbsp. Milk (optional)
Method: Chocolate Spritz Cookies
Cream butter with caster sugar. Add an egg yolk. Then stir in cocoa powder and flour. Put the batter into a piping bag. Press the batter onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at 160 °C for about 8-10 minutes.
Tip: My batter was still a little too thick and stiff and I could not pipe it out. If you have the same problem, add a little milk.
